In the real world, the first step in meeting someone would be to catch their eye so that they know you’ve noticed them. In the online dating world, you need to make little advances (or send signals as we like to call it). It’s the virtual equivalent of real life eye contact, smiling, winking and breaking the ice with an introduction.
